Vernon Sylvest,
M.D., along with his wife Anne, founded Healing Waters Lodge.
Dr. Sylvest has been practicing pathology in the Richmond area
for 30 years. Growing up as a preacher’s kid, Dr. Sylvest became
aware at an early age of a wide range of human problems,
including disease and death. This exposure sparked a search for
answers and solutions which led to the study of medicine and,
ultimately, pathology. Frustrated in his initial quest for
understanding and motivated by his own illness, which was considered
incurable, Dr. Sylvest began to explore beyond conventional medicine
into the realm of physics and the energetic relationships between mind
and body, including the role of spirituality. His study and application
of what he learned resulted in his healing and took him into direct
patient care, in addition to his pathology practice. His first book, The Formula: Who Gets Sick, Who
Gets Well; Who is Unhappy; Who is Happy and Why, which includes
much of his experience, was published by SunStar in 1996 and is now in
its third printing. Work on his second book, The End of Fear, is in
progress. Interest in his work has led to lecture tours across the
country and abroad. Healing Waters Lodge is the culmination of years of
experience in the direct application of the knowledge Dr. Sylvest has
gained for the maintenance of good health and productive longevity.

Anne Sylvest grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and was
imprinted early in life with the beauty of the mountains, the valley,
the fields and the undulating river. These impressions and memories
greatly influence her activity as an artist as well as her work in
developing the Lodge in her beloved mountains. She was an operating
room nurse when she and Dr. Sylvest met and for the past 22 years has
partnered with him in holistic health care work including organizing a
holistic health center in Richmond, VA.
